Memorial Park
As you enter Memorial Park you are first greeted with the Statue of Liberty Monument, which was moved to Memorial Park over 60 years ago from an older park near Tabor College. As you continue into the park on the left side of the road you will pass a Veterans Memorial which is kept up by the Local American Legion group. On the right side of the road you will see one of two shelter houses. You will also notice the open space which is available in the park for play and over 12 picnic tables spread throughout the park. As you continue to make the loop you will pass several play structures which include swings, jungle-gyms, merry-go rounds, along with three different play systems; one for toddlers, one for 3-5 years of age and one for 5-12 years of age. As you are finishing the loop you will see the second shelter house and the Log Cabin, also known as the Scout House, which serves as a tornado shelter and a meeting room (which can be rented at the Hillsboro City Office). Every Memorial Weekend, Memorial Drive is changed over to the American Legion Memorial Drive of Flags.
