Microbiological Quality
Bacteria and other harmful organisms are removed by physical processes and
disinfection chemicals. Efficiency of these treatment techniques are monitored by
microbiological testing (4 times a month) and clarity of the finished
water (turbidity) which is continuously monitored.

Residual Chlorine- KDHE requires that cities maintain a chlorine residual in all distribution systems for disinfection purposes. We test daily, in different areas of the city to insure proper disinfection.

Organic Compounds
(Pesticides/Volatile Organic Compounds/Disinfection By Products caused
by runoff from herbicides used on row crops and discharge of petroleum
products.) There are a number of organic compounds that are of concern
in drinking water. This group includes volatile organic compounds
(VOC's); pesticides and herbicides (SOC's)

Physical Properties & Inorganic Compounds
All natural waters contain some dissolved minerals. Quality standards establish
limits for inorganics to protect public health. Caused by erosion of natural deposits
