The position is salaried full-time, benefits eligible position. The current City Clerk is retiring in summer 2021 after 42 years of service. The City Clerk supervises the City Hall office staff and works closely with the City Administrator. Full position description is available at City Hall or you can download it here. Three to five years’ experience in financial management, public administration or a similar field is preferred. Basic Duties
The successful candidate will have a variety of experience and skills. The primary function is managing the accounting operations of the city and serving as the official records custodian for the city. Duties include:
• Maintains and updates City accounting records including accounts payable, purchasing, accounts
receivable and payroll.
• Provides citizen assistance by fielding questions, concerns and complaints from the general public
• Serves as the City’s records custodian for all official documents
• Attends City Council meetings and records meeting minutes
• Assists with other boards and commissions as necessary
• Perform any duties deemed necessary or assigned

Golf Course Superintendent

The position is salaried full-time, year round position. The individual hired will work with the existing Golf Superintendent for the 2021 season. The existing Superintendent will retire at the end of 2021. The Golf Superintendent is a city employee but works with a Golf Association board. The successful candidate will have a variety of experience and skills. The primary function is maintenance and operation of the Hillsboro Golf Course. Duties include:
Responsible for the daily operations of the golf course including turf management, mowing, trimming and grounds keeping.
Maintaining golf course facilities including the club house, cart shed, driving range and other areas.
Apply pesticides, fertilizers and fungicides as needed
Maintain the course irrigation systems and wells
Assist other city departments in maintenance and emergency situations as needed
Perform any duties deemed necessary or assigned

Sewer / Water Trainee
The City of Hillsboro, Kansas seeks a qualified individual for the Sewer / Water Trainee position. Basic Duties
The Sewer / Water Trainee position is entry level position that trains with certified operators to learn the sewer and water systems. Employees receive performance based raises as they reach milestones and complete KDHE operator certifications. Duties include:
Learns operation and maintains the wastewater system including operation of the lift stations and lagoons under the direct supervision of a certified operator.
Cleans and repairs sewer lines
Learns operation of the water treatment facility and distribution system under the direct supervision of a certified operator
Assists with the maintenance of the water distribution system
Inspects departmental equipment and machinery;
Records required readings and maintains departmental records;
Performs grounds keeping duties as needed;
Required to take on call as per rotation schedule
Salary: The salary range is in the $15.00 - $20.00 per hour range. This position is benefits eligible and includes medical and dental insurance and KPERS retirement.
