JAM Basketball

 

 

The JAM Basketball Program has been an excellent way to introduce basketball to your child.The first half of the season’s sessions will stress fundamentals and game situations with the second half consisting of scheduled games on Saturday mornings and instructional practice sessions.Length of games will depend on the age of the group and number of teams. Hillsboro High School Boys’ Basketball Coach Darrell Knoll and Hillsboro High School Girls’ Basketball Coach Nathan Hiebert will work on staffing each team with coaches who will consist of parents, local coaches, and high school players.More information will be given out once all of the registrations have been taken

HRC Modified Yoga Class

Come enjoy a stress relieving modified yoga class. What is a modified yoga class?This class is a half hour long basic class with multiple poses offered for beginners and participants with limited stretching ability taught by Lesli Beery

 

Christmas Crafts

The Hillsboro Rec Commission is teaming up with makers, Greta Wiebe & Dana Maxfield, and hosting a ladies (18yrs & older) Christmas Craft Night on Friday, Dec. 8th at 7:00pm.

 

Facebook for Beginners

Want to see what the Grandkids are doing?Want to see the pictures they talk about?This is your chance to learn about Facebook.The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and Laura Legg are working together to bring you this great program.

New Programs

Gymnastics

 

Recently, Matthew Paul, Next Level Athletics , McPherson, purchased the Skywalkers’ Gymnastics program in Hillsboro!They, along with the HRC, are excited to continue offering trampoline and tumbling classes in the area!Coaches Matthew Paul and Brady Wilson were both level 10 competitive athletes for USAG for many years, and continue to compete today in that organization.

Martial Arts

 

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and the Honorable Tiger School of Martial Arts is sponsoring a Martial Arts program taught by Sempai Hai Mervin Lare who is a Sifu Joe Bostick 5th Level Lao Hu Pa’i Gung Fu. The classes will include Goshin Jutsu Karate, Lao Hu Pa’i Gung Fu, Judo Techniques, Self Defense Training, Aiki Jutsu Karate, and More.

Studio 23 Dance

 

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission & Krista Matlock are opening the **New** Studio 23 Dance Studio Starting October 2 at 107 S. Main in Hillsboro! Krista Matlock along with Krystal Holmes and Hannah Klaassen will be providing classes to introduce different styles of dance along with technique fundamentals

Yoga Class

 

Come enjoy a stress relieving yoga class. This class is an hour long intermediate mat class with multiple poses offered for beginners as well. Must be able to get up off of floor without assistance and put majority of body weight through arms. Many benefits of yoga include increased flexibility, strengthening through elongation of muscles, core strength and improved balance.

Weight & Exercise Room

 

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission and the Hillsboro High School have joined to open the Hillsboro High School strength-traini ng facility to the public. The facility will be open to Hillsboro students who are accompanied by a parent and also residents of Hillsboro over the age of 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please enter the facility through the east door of the new addition on the east end of the main high school building.

Open Gym

 

The Hillsboro Recreation Commission

will be sponsoring open gym on Wednesdays from 7 pm to 9 pm and Sundays 2 pm to 5 pm until mid-March 2015. Open gym is for both youth and adult basketball players who would like to play in pick up games or just practice shooting.
